Our new resident artist from Netherlands – Astrid Vlasman

Belgrade Art Studio is delighted to welcome Astrid Vlasman, an artist from Netherlands.

Astrid is residing and working as a visual artist in Leiden, the Netherlands. Besides making art, she has always had different jobs in the art and education sector, and  raised a family. Now, it is the right moment for her to get the focus completely on art.

Her artwork is a combination of torn paper, pictures and oil paint. She glues the paper in different layers. The paper, among other things, comes from packaging (bags, gift wrap, etc.) that she collects every day.

In her work she investigates people, the places they take and the traces they leave behind. The inspiration comes from pictures/paintings in books or newspapers. Children, Lonely people and lonely places are the main subjects of her work.
