Artist Statement

Christina Heyworth (she/her) is a Chicago-based visual artist and writer.  She holds a BA in integrative biology from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and an MA in art therapy and counseling from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Heyworth’s artwork incorporates graphic medicine, ecopsychotherapy, and personal lived experience to critically analyze themes of community, loss, grief, motivation, support, and mental wellness.  Her work utilizes both made and found objects to decrease feelings of isolation while tuning into the environmental ques from natural and human-curated places.  The mind-body-spirit-environment connection is pivotal to Heyworth’s artistic praxis.
