Bio

Gordon Lewis grew up in northern Minnesota where he learned to play instruments at a young age in a bluegrass band and in his local church. He played saxophone and percussion in high school while performing in rock bands on guitar. He attended Power Chord Academy at the age of 14 in San Diego where he learned a lot about the music business and how to book shows. When he turned 17 he applied to the Perpich Center for Arts Education where he was accepted for his senior year in high school. It was there that he realized that he would want to pursue a lifelong career in music and the arts.

After graduating high school he went to Mesabi Range Community College and got his Associate of Arts Degree. He then moved to Missouri where he attended colleges for music education and performance all while gigging around with various bands. He then decided he would hit the road traveling and touring until he settled down in Colorado and taught music full-time for a stint. Together with his partner he performs in a duo called Roma Ransom that travels across the country. He also composes music for films, commercials, podcasts etc. Some of his clients that he has composed soundtracks for include Patagonia, Bud Light, Huckberry, YETI, Vice, And She’s Dope Too and many more. Gordon has certification in audio engineering, music production, film scoring, and music education. Gordon is also an alumni of the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation Artist Residency in Taos, New Mexico as well an alumni of the World of Co Online Residency based out of Sofia, Bulgaria

Artist Statement

With whatever artistic endeavor I pursue, the intention is always the same; To create work that is thought provoking, intriguing and striving toward the non-conventional. My approach to writing any piece of music begins with a few simple chords or a melody which allows me to create a foundation and develop an overall vibe for the song. Then I build upon that framework with various instrumentation and dynamics to create my desired effect. I tend to let myself follow the muse with the hope of creating something original and unique.
