Artist statement

When I began thinking critically and conceptually about how I was going to portray the research and experimentation of my art practice, I came to the conclusion that spontaneity and development were the main reasons for my outcomes. Mark making through exploration of the environment around me leads me to a place of vibrancy and continuous discovery. The content of my work is based on astronomical theories and discoveries. Lines, brushstrokes and symbols are measured precisely and interpreted through ambiguous gestures and my discoveries are recorded within nature and under the night sky. For me, using a real life study and transferring it into an abstract visual form creates an interesting dynamic to my process and I find myself constantly questioning various interpretations and conclusions I discover within nature and the environment. I use colours that I find attractive within my garden and line combinations form star constellations, as well as the strong influence of street art within my city of Berlin. I am drawn to obscure visuals I endure on a daily basis and use them as references for my abstracted body of work. I work through the mediums of paint, print and installation. There is something about the consistency of paint and how it transfers onto any given material that fascinates me so much. The act of letting yourself go and not focusing on any given outcome of a piece plays a large role in my process and I believe makes the creation of art playful and therapeutic to me.
