Artist statement

I began my career as a painter because I had the need to portray the surreal and urban landscapes that I had kept in my mind for years. Which is why Arturo Rivera was once a major influence on me. Later it dawned on me that I had to improve my expertise, in order to communicate a stronger message in my work. This led me to study anatomy, perspective and human figure for two years.
I progressively migrated from oil painting to dry techniques and watercolor. This transition took me years. Thus, I have been experiencing a transcendental evolution from gloom to bright, from the static to the lively. Furthermore, new images have come to populate my work such as everyday life scenes and folklore.
As I have been going through constant practice and expressive line exploration, I have reached remarkable synthesis of the human figure in action. Such progression is beginning to hint towards abstraction.
Finally, I have witnessed the way my work has been gaining brilliance and has also strengthened with expression for I aim to capture the vivid energy of life.
