Belgrade Art Studio Residency

JIHANE MOSSALIN

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

I knew that for the final project I wanted to go beyond painting and drawing and that I wanted to try something new, something that I would not necessarily take the time to do in my art practice outside this residency.

I really took advantage of being surrounded by amazing artists from around the world and tried to get a grasp of some of their works to create a video/animation from images received from some of the participants. The result is a fast-paced video where some drawing animations are presented, superimposed over live-action videos. The themes are all in link with some aspects of the artist on standby through the images and stories shared by the collaborative participants. But mainly, from my own perspective, this work represents myself, as an artist on standby; an artist that pushed the limits of her knowledge to explore different media and medium to create a new artwork.
