Artist statement
John-Patrick Ayson is a writer, artist & PhD researcher who uses mobile phone technologies, improvisational dialogic approaches, speculative app designs, remixed data & map-based visualizations, to critically engage witheco-socio-political concerns & technologically-determinist themes. currently, he is working on YOGURT an interactive, food-based installation & THE BUFFET a five-part docufiction about all-you-can-eat foods in the anthropocene.
Project
During his residency at Belgrade Art Studio, he will finalize ACCIDENTS a series of seven accidental, non-edited, non-curated moving still images, shot & produced with his iPhone 6s Plus within the span of the last 2 years — & draft an essay titled THE PASTS < PRESENTS > & FUTURES OF THE MATERIAL a critical review & analysis of four artworks in four major biennales ( RIBOCA 1, Biennale de l’Image Mouvement 2018, the 58th Venice Biennale & the 2019 Whitney Biennial )
