Matthew’s Live Performance at Kvaka22

Matthew Manowski lives in Pittsburgh, USA. He studied Sociology and Intermedia Arts at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis. In 2015 he earned his MFA in Arts Leadership from Seattle University subsequently founding the Sources of Light Experimental Music Festival and Lightlessness Productions. He works primarily in composition, sound and video. Though he states “I keep my artistic practice open-ended…this means I use numerous methods and materials that contribute to site-specific performance installation.” In the piece is titled “Light Matter While I’m Here” Manowski investigates the meaning(s) of hidden personal identity and cultural fluidity in contemporary and historical contexts (post-Roman Empire). Within this theoretical framework he’ll be deploy a series of micro-sound sculptures, text, local artifacts and video projections as his means for communication. This piece was made possible through a “Foundation for the Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant”.
